NYCAMH: A Program of the Bassett Healthcare Network Established by the New York State Legislature in 1988. Recognizing the unacceptably high rates of occupational injury and illness in New Yorks largest industry, the legislature has charged NYCAMH to provide: Research into the causes and prevention of agricultural injury and illness Education and prevention activities within the farm community Education of professionals serving the farm community Clinical help for farm-related health problems Research Studies health and safety problems of those working in agriculture by: tracking farm-related injuries and illnesses investigating health problems of migrant and seasonal farmworkers understanding safety practices of farmers developing equipment to reduce muscle pain evaluating effectiveness of personal protective equipment Library & Information Center Provides occupational health resources for agricultural health and safety. topics range from allergy to zoonosis books, journals, and videos are available open to health professionals, organizations, researchers, and community members Farmers Clinic Assists with farm health problems staffed by physician and occupational health nurse most health insurances accepted no cost on-farm visits to assess work-related health and safety issues Safety Trainings Assists farm owners in setting and meeting farm specific safety goals identifies hazards provides bilingual training and educational materials training is conducted on the farm at a convenient time Farm safety services are available for CCE, 4-H, Agricutural Classes and Agribusiness events. PTO Retrofit Program Assists with power take off retrofitting provides a range of PTO shaft replacement shields cost, including shipping and handling, is $50 per kit Farm Partners Provides on-farm case management, counseling and referral staffed by a licensed social worker services are confidential and free of charge NYS ROPS Rebate Program Assists with rollover protective structure retrofitting rebates a portion of the cost of retrofitting your tractor staff will identify available ROPS options pre-registration required HealthWorks Offers a full range of occupational health services to meet the health & safety needs of the regional business community: firefighter/EMS medical evaluation program drug and alcohol testing hearing conservation program respiratory protection program Community Heart Program Provides free heart disease risk screening and educational materials regarding heart health.
