NYCAMH recommends a sunscreen rated at SPF 15 or higher, with UV-A and UV-B protection. Sunscreen should be worn whenever you are outdoors, whether it's summer or winter, cloudy or sunny. Wide brim hats are also recommended. Baseball hats don't protect your ears or neck. Sunscreen should be applied 20-30 minutes before sun exposure and reapplied as necessary.
